Jay Hageman, VP of Business Development at Rental Business Advisors, joined the Firm full time beginning in 2023. Prior to working exclusively and full time with Rental Business Advisors, Mr. Hageman previously worked at Echo Global Logistics in Kansas City as a freight broker for two years after graduation from the University of Kansas in 2021.

Jay has been involved in the rental equipment industry his entire life as his grandfather, Fred Unsworth, was a lifelong equipment salesman (primarily Light Towers and Generators) on the West Coast, and his dad, Fred, has been in the rental industry since 1988.

Jay interned off and on with Rental Business Advisors since 2014, learning the “behind the scenes” aspects of what it takes to be a successful M&A business consultant in this industry, and applied those skills as he attended KU’s Business School. Jay began his full-time tenure beginning at the ARA Show in Orlando 2023. Over the past three years, Jay has been a part of multiple deals with national and independently held companies as well as Private Equity, and has been involved in numerous valuation and consulting opportunities throughout the U.S.

Jay is based in and heads the Kansas City office of Rental Business Advisors. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas.

Jay has followed his dad’s footsteps in more ways than one as he is a die-hard Jayhawks fan, a KC Chiefs fan, enjoys the NBA and the NFL (where his grandfather was a former NFL player for Washington and Chicago. Jay is a scratch golfer and enjoys spending time with his family and friends in his spare time.
